All diamonds are rare, but some are more rare than others -
and therefore more valuable. The 4c's relate to a diamond's:
CUT, COLOR, CLARITY, CARAT WEIGHT
The basic characteristics that determine the quality
of a diamond and ultimately its price.
Important: Do not take the jeweler's or salesperson's word, you must see the paperwork for a stone before you even consider buying it. Click here to see part of a sample certificate.
Warning! never buy a diamond that has a visibly yellowish tint (unless it's a certified fancy yellow), or a diamond that has inclusions that are visible to the naked eye. Also, avoid treated stones. These stones have no liquidity in the long run.
