Is fine jewelry still a good investment? | Yes, albeit the item meets the following criteria: It should be a tasteful classic design, of good quality, labratory documented, and of course, priced right. Unlike most consumer items, fine jewelry historically has not been prone to depreciation. In the long run many pieces will probably appreciate in value. Nevertheless, since the future is unpredictable, one's main motive in acquiring fine jewelry should be the pride and joy that comes along with wearing and owning it. Why do I need an independent labratory report? | Impartial reports are essential for two important reasons. First, is the jewelry as represented? Has the diamond been painted to enhance its color? Have cracks been filled with epoxy to better the diamonds clarity? Has the emerald been "oiled"? Has the sapphire been "cooked" or irradiated? Are the pearls natural, cultured or synthetic? Is their quality grading A, AA, or AAA? Every month jewelry trade journals headline new gem enhancement breakthroughs. The laboratories are scrambling to stay abreast of the gem "doctors" and their treatments. Very few jewelers are poised on the cutting edge of gemological technology. They cannot disclose that which they do not know!!! If a company such as ours, with its longevity and expertise, requires laboratory verification...shouldn't you? Secondly, independent evaluations help keep the jeweler honest. Is it possible to really be objective about one's own merchandise? Is it "VS" or "BS"? Only an unsophisticated buyer would consider purchasing precious jewelry sans independent laboratory confirmation.

All important items carry independent documentation from world renowned laboratories (see the enclosed examples). We can send you copies of the laboratory analysis and color copier facsimilies of the actual jewelry via fax or mail. Do you have a refund policy? | Your satisfaction is completely guaranteed. Generally, all mail order jewelry sales carry a 30 day refund policy for any reason.

I'm trying to surprise a loved one, what if she is unhappy with my choice? | If she's not happy, we're not happy. You'll either receive your money back or company credit. There are some restrictions on special order merchandise and peak seasonal demands. Please discuss these contingencies with us in advance to avoid any misunderstandings.

Can I buy a loose diamond from Capetown and purchase a suitable mounting from my hometown jeweler? | Yes you can. However, you should know that Capetown manufactures an extensive line of desirable handcrafted mountings priced far below prevailing retail. Many of our clients have us set the diamond in a temporary Tiffany style gold mounting. This tactic allows for a surprise presentation of the ring to your loved one. Thereafter, we can send photographs or in some cases actual mountings for her to choose from. Sizing and remounting can be accomplished in short order.

Can I trade in my unwanted jewelry? | Trade-in, trade-up, trade-down or sell outright. Call our Purchasing Department for additional details.
